In addition, in a newly-created role, he will also serve as the global head of the non-resident Indian (NRI) business at Standard Chartered Private Bank.
Siripurapu's appointment is effective July 5. He will be based in Singapore.
In regards to his appointment, a spokeswoman said the bank intends to focus on the non-resident Indian segment “with greater intensity and global consistency.
“We have NRI specialists on our teams, but have not run this business on a global level in the past. In terms of NRI strategy, our ambition is to be the multi-generation private bank of choice for entrepreneurs,” she said.
Siripurapu joined from Barclays where he was the head of Southeast Asia, global South Asian Community and Africa offshore.
In April, OCBC’s Bank of Singapore agreed to acquire Barclays' wealth business in Singapore and Hong Kong for $320m.
Prior to Barclays, Siripurapu worked at UBS in Singapore and ABN Amro in India.
He replaces Peter Kok. According to a statement from the bank, Kok's role "is now combined within Srini’s expanded remit. As a result of this change, Peter will be leaving the bank".
