Henderson Global Investors (Henderson) has hired two portfolio managers from rival firms Lloyd George Management and Franklin Templeton, in line with its strategy to grow its Asia ex-Japan equity products.

Wee May Ling joins as an investment manager, and Mervyn Koh has been appointed as associate investment manager. They are both based in Singapore.

In Wee’s role, she will support portfolio manager, Charlie Awdry, in managing the Henderson Horizon China Fund and the Henderson China Opportunities Fund.

Wee started her investment career as a research analyst in 1997 at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein Securities in Singapore and subsequently, Hong Kong. Most recently, she was a portfolio manager with Lloyd George Management in Hong Kong, where she managed Greater China equities.

In Koh’s role, he provides support to Andrew Gillan, head of Asia ex-Japan equities, as a deputy portfolio manager in managing the Henderson Horizon Asian Growth Fund and the Henderson Asia Pacific Capital Growth Fund.

Koh started his career as an associate at the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation in 2006. He joins the firm from Franklin Templeton Investments, where he held the title of vice president in the emerging markets group. At that time, Koh was responsible for research in the Singapore and Indonesia equity markets as well as co-managing a Southeast Asia fund.
