Old Mutual Global Investors (OMGI) announced this week that it has appointed Oliver Lee as investment director for Asian equities.

OMGI beefs up Asian equities team

Lee’s appointment follows on the heels of the naming of Richard Buxton as CEO in August. Buxton noted in a statement that he is on the lookout for new managers who can contribute through investment leadership.

Lee will work with Joshua Crabb, Diamond Lee and Dmitry Lapidus. The team received regulatory approval to operate from Hong Kong in April.

They manage three funds from the region: the Old Mutual Asian Equity Income Fund, the Mutual Pacific Equity Fund and the Old Mutual Greater China Equity Fund. All three funds are sub funds of the Dublin domiciled OMGI Series.

Lee joins OMGI from Schroder Investment Management, where he worked in the alternative strategies group. Prior to this, he worked for four years at Sloane Robinson, the Asian and emerging market equity boutique.
